This set of tenugui is kinda special, as they can be used as masks (there are holes for the eyes) they depict characters of the japanese theater and folklore…
I bought ひょっとこ (hyottoko) during my first travel and bought おかめ (okame) and おっさん (ossan) on my second trip.
I usually wear them with the face well placed behind my head when I wear the men so that you’d think the character is looking at you when you look at me from behind. (See the still from a video where you can see it fairly well).
These are my favourite because of their originality (everyone stops by and looks at them when I’m in a seminar) but I also like them a lot because they are easy to wash. Indeed, since they’re almost entirely black, I’m not bothered by the yellow sweat stains I’d get on white tenugui’s.
